To provide final honors and support local veterans and first responders in need.
Our original mission was to locate, at a local level, the forgotten cremains of veterans at our local funeral homes.
- To date, Old Guard New England has reviewed the records of two hundred and sixty unclaimed cremains.
- As a result of these efforts, the cremains of ten veterans were properly interred with the military honors they earned through their services.
Old Guard New England responds to requests to assist in providing Final Honors for local veterans.
- This includes providing a Gun Salute, Honor Guard and/or motorcycle escort to families who are laying their fallen veteran to their final rest.
- We also assist veterans, first responders and their families with services they cannot receive through normal means.
Who we are and what we do
To help raise awareness of Veterans final honors and help those in need, the Old Guard New England participates in different local events honoring our veterans and emergency service responders, including;
- Serving as Honor Guard for Hopkinton MA’s Memorial and Veterans Day events,
- Taps every 1st Sunday of the month at the Hopkinton Town Common at 7pm ET in Hopkinton, MA,
- Assisting the Hopkinton Police with their annual National Night Out event,
- Assisting the Hopkinton Fire Department with their annual Firefighters Memorial event,
- Providing the Honor Guard for Wreaths Across America held every December at the Bourne National Cemetery.
Old Guard New England’s members meet every third Saturday of the month.
